The Coraline Cake!!!!!!

Here are the pictures I have! I didn't manage to get any before the house fell apart. Hopefully someone will be able to send me one! It is a little hard to see, but the cake came out quite well overall! We went for black, white, and red to get a sense of the creepiness that is Coraline. The cat and rats were supposed to be black, but we had some trouble getting the marzipan darker than the gray you see. The face is the "other mother." It was pretty yummy!

Next Book!

We are going to read a book of Grimm's Fairy Tales next! Members: put a post-it note or something when you read stories that you think we should put into the cake.

Next Meeting!

Our next meeting will be this Saturday (28th) at 11. I am not sure how long it will take at the moment. We will make the Coraline cake. I will make the cake itself ahead of time, so we will be decorating. Please tell me if you can not come! Thanks!

(We will also decide on the book, so please vote in the pole if you have not. You don't have to be a member to vote on what we should do!)

First Meeting!

Ok, so we just had our first meeting. As our first book is Coraline, we went to see the movie! I believe our general thoughts were this:

Book: Pretty awesome, although incredibly creepy. This was written for children?????

Movie: Incredible animation, and nowhere near as nightmare-provoking as the book. Although most of the additions were fine, such as the dolls and making the mice hop (hehe), giving Coraline a friend (Weidy or Whiny or whatever his name was) wasn't the greatest idea. A big part of the book was how Coraline was the only kid!

Next meeting, we will create our Coraline cake. We will decide on a date soon! And if I didn't manage to portray your reactions correctly, please leave your thoughts in the comments!
